拇外翻 是最为常见的足部疾病之一，多见于女性患者，男女比例约1:9 至1:15，发病率随年龄的增长而增加。通常对称性发病，拇外翻畸形的形成有先天性和后天性因素，其中较为明确的是先天性因素。调查显示50-90% 拇外翻畸形患者有家族遗传史。现常见的发展、形成拇外翻畸形的后天因素有穿戴不合脚的鞋，特别是女性所喜爱的高跟鞋及某些前足撞击性的外伤等。
